High 30s. Midday sun. No sea breeze. Rafia and Sean gathered their family inside Walter's Dining Room at the Royal Hotel, Mornington. High ceilings, beautiful textures, air conditioning doing the lord's work. Their kids stood with them through the ceremony. Words shared. Vows exchanged. A family story, witnessed by the people who already knew it. Afterward, we walked to the cliffs for photos. Harsh summer light, bright water, all that January colour. Three hours. Ceremony, portraits, done. They continued with cold beers and champagne into the afternoon, and I waved goodbye. Everything they needed. Nothing they didn't.
